Yesterday, this newspaper editorialized on the move to keep borders shut with India, commending the government for this rational and necessary decision.

Yet, as we also noted, trade with India remains an inevitability, with about 2,000 cargo trucks entering Bangladesh daily from India. As such, while there may not be any passengers entering Bangladesh from India through the borders, these cargo trucks pose a threat of their own, and there is legitimate fear of an outbreak in these port areas as a result.
