Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram fined 14 businesses and one person a total of Tk 11.81 lakhs for not renewing clearance certificates, lifting sand, and violating DoE conditions. The fine was imposed today after a hearing at the DoE office in Khulshi area of the port city. Of the 14 businesses, seven were brick kilns -- five from Chandpur and the rest from Laxmipur,
