Plying of overloaded trucks threatens Teesta Barrage

Plying of over loaded vehicles, especially stone-laden trucks, on Key Point Infrastructure (KPI) of Teesta Barrage across the Teesta river at Dowani in Hatibandha upazila is posing serious threat to the country’s largest irrigation project. During the recent monthly law and order meeting, held at the conference room of Lalmonirhat deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on May 12, it was decided that stern action will be taken against movement of such heavily loaded vehicles.
