Covid-19 and the wounds in democracy

The pandemic situation of Covid-19 has hit the country hard since last year. While both the rate of infection and death have reduced, it has not reached zero yet. However, we can observe that the surge of Covid-19 highlighted some social issues, and it ultimately has provided a spotlight on democracy.


Each and every citizen has the right to get proper information. In Bangladesh, we are all witnessing press reports on the rate of death and the number of infected citizens each day. Some countries established the system of arrest and detention for spreading misinformation about pandemic circumstances -- defining it as a criminal offense. So, the main fact here is that the citizens must receive accurate information on how the country has been affected by the pandemic.
