ED: Digital Bangladesh needs to be digitally secure
A single hacker group was responsible for attacking over 200 organizations in Bangladesh alone
It is encouraging to note that the Digital Security Agency, Bangladesh Computer Council, and the Cyber Warfare and Information Technology Directorate under the Bangladesh Air Force have signed an MoU in order collaborate on issues of cyber security and improve the air force’s capacity to deal with the threat of increasing cyber attacks.
In this digital age, and indeed within Digital Bangladesh, a weak cyber security framework is as unacceptable as it is to have a house without a door and, unfortunately, lacklustre governmental policy and widespread corruption within our public institutions have done exactly that.
Memories of the Bangladesh Bank cyber heist are all too fresh, in which security hackers were almost successful in stealing close to $1 billion worth of tax-payer money, and subsequent revelations regarding our national bank’s cyber security status have been far from reassuring.
