Prioritise rights, safety of Rohingya people: ASEAN

ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) and Progressive Voice today said Myanmar must ensure that human rights of the Rohingya community are protected and respected while safe conditions should be in place in Rakhine State before any refugees are repatriated from Bangladesh. The organisations made the call as Southeast Asian leaders are preparing to meet in Bangkok, Thailand for the 34th ASEAN Summit from 20-23 June 2019, according to a press release issued to the media by ASEAN.
