The High Court today issued an injunction for six months on construction of a ship breaking yard in reserve forest area of Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila. BBC Steel, a ship breaking company, is constructing a ship breaking yard on 7.10 acres of land at the reserve forest of Uttar Salingpurmouja, near the Bay of Bengal. The deputy commissioner in Chattogram has given the land as a lease to the company's owner Kashem Raja, according to a writ petitionfiled by Bangladesh Environment Lawyers' Association (Bela).
