Jatiya Party (JP) founder and late president Hussain Muhammad Ershad is regarded a dictator, though he never admitted it. Even the current leadership of the party does not acknowledge it. After his death, his younger brother Golam Mohammed Quader has assumed the role of party chairman. The party has been in the parliament since 2008 as Awami League-led grand alliance partner.
