Mobile financial service users will have to pay for checking balance

Clients of mobile financial services (MFS) have to pay Tk 0.40 to their respective mobile operators every time they check their balance from their cellphones, according to a directive of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued today. As per the new directive, mobile operators will get Tk 0.85 for each transaction. It is yet to be known whether the MFS operators will bear the costs themselves or the costs will be imposed on their clients.
