Bangla New Year has been celebrated with pomp and gaiety since late 1990s in vast areas of Queens and in Times Square, Manhattan since 2022; the day is celebrated with community singing and performances by 100+ groups from India, Bangladesh, and the United States; (Senate Resolution No. 234)

রেজুলেশনে অভিবাসী বাঙালিদের নববর্ষ উদ্যাপনের ইতিহাসকে তুলে ধরে শেষে বলা হয়েছে... this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim April 14, 2025, as Bangla New Year Day in the State of New York, and to recognize the many contributions of Bangla speaking diasporas in New York; (Senate Resolution No. J234) অর্থাৎ ‘নিউইয়র্কে বাংলাভাষী প্রবাসীদের অসংখ্য অবদানকে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়া হয়। তাই এখন এই আইনসভা ১৪ এপ্রিলকে নিউইয়র্ক রাজ্যের জন্য বাংলা নববর্ষ হিসেবে ঘোষণা করল।’ এভাবেই মুক্তধারা ফাউন্ডেশনের অনুরোধে সিনেটর লুইস সেপুলভেদার ১৫ জানুয়ারি প্রস্তাবের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে অঙ্গরাজ্যের আইনসভার অধিবেশনে ২০২৫ খ্রিষ্টাব্দের ২২ জানুয়ারি আইনপ্রণেতারা সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে বাংলা নববর্ষকে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছেন।
