
ED: Holding them accountable
The chief barriers to ensuring sustained progress and reaching our full potential have not always been a global pandemic
It has been a difficult year and a half for Bangladesh, just as it has been for any other nation, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the pandemic, however, work has not stopped, and credit must be given to not just the leaders who continue to push for progress, but also the workers and employees who have, often at the risk of their lives, continued their tasks with utmost diligence.
However, as has been noted time and time again, the chief barriers to ensuring sustained progress and reaching our full potential have not always been a global pandemic. Rather, in the case of Bangladesh, it has always been negligence, complacency, a culture of impunity, and most of all, corruption.
