How do we break the chain of coronavirus infection?
Despite the claims made a few months ago that Bangladesh has successfully—more successfully than many western countries—beat back the coronavirus, the virus has returned with a vengeance. In the past month, there have been serious spikes in the rates of infections, hospitalisations, and deaths. The government has, therefore, declared a lockdown to deal with the situation. In my view, lockdown is not the right answer in the long run because its repeated use may paralyse the economy, causing more devastation.
