Columnist Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury passes away

The freedom fighter and veteran political analyst was 72 at the time of his death

Eminent columnist Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury has passed away.

He breathed his last at 2:15am on Friday while undergoing treatment at Birdem General Hospital in the capital.

The veteran political analyst was 72 at the time of his death.

He was suffering from diabetes and kidney disease. He was taken to the hospital when his condition took a turn for the worse last Thursday.

Bakhtiar was buried at his family graveyard in Nangalmora village under Chittagong's Hathazari upazila after a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) around 4:30 pm on Friday.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and grandchildren.
