Son of a schoolteacher from Sonargaon upazila, Golam Kibria Shamim aka GK Shamim, who was arrested along with FDRs worth Tk 165 crore, around Tk 1.8 crore in cash and a large stash of dollars, became the ‘king’ of extortion and tender manipulation using political clout.
