HC wants info on govt steps against mob beating

The High Court today asked the government to inform what steps it has taken against the incidents of mob beating and its perpetrators. The home secretary and the inspector general of police have been asked to submit separate reports to the court by November 28. It also issued a rule asking the government to explain why its failure to protect Taslima Begum Ranu and others who were killed in mob beatings on different dates in July should not be declared illegal.
